Q. What does linear progressive suspension do?

A.

Progression means that the suspension mechanism decreases the leverage that the rear wheel has over the shock the further you go into its travel. This results in the force required to compress the suspension further increasing more than just the spring rate alone would dictate. ‘Linear progressive’ means that this decrease in leverage is delivered in a steady manner- this is one of the key ingredients to predictable suspension. Having the right amount of progression, delivered in the right manner, allows you to ride hard without excessive, sluggish damping, and without bottoming out the suspension harshly.
