Pinner #051 started life as BTR’s own demo bike. Following a huge push to get the frame built, Andrew Dodd (then of MBUK) loaned us his personal bike to rob parts from for the build- cheers Doddy! Saddleback shouted us a set of insane wheels; Enve rims on Chris King hubs with Sapim CX-Ray spokes- thanks guys! The finished bike went straight to Dirt magazine for review. We had to take it apart and give all the bits back straight afterwards, so the frame sat in a box in the workshop for a while.
Next Marzocchi UK came on board and donated a set of 350NCR Ti forks to the frame. Once again it was back on, and Ride.io came up with the rest of the build for their review. Then the frame and forks sat around in a box again, gathering dust….
That was, until Gav took it, built it up AGAIN, and went for 2 weeks riding in the French alps. A downhiller at heart, Gav now runs August Bicycles building bikes and wheels for any type of riding to an incredible standard- we even spec August wheels on our complete bikes! Gav was so taken with the Pinner’s performance up and down hill, that we never got the frame back from him! A few months and a fresh coat of paint later, Pinner #051 is back (and nearly black)!
